The World Above by shiroin The World Above by shiroin
this is the world above us, the milky way.

its just that we are usually too busy or pretending to be busy to bother looking up and notice the vast beauty up there.

uploaded it at 1440x900 so you can use it as your wallpaper if you download the fullsize image (i am using it for mine~)

and yes this is a photograph.

Will we ever stop
being afraid of nights and death?
And a thought returned:
When you reach the stars, boy, yes,
and live thee forever, all the fears will go
and Death himself will die.
-Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury

Love gazing up at the stars. Its so hard at time with all the city and town lights but its something magical when its clear like this picture. Totally making it my wallpaper. ^^ :star:

Damn this is pretty. Don't tell me you go this all in one 20-second exposure, or did you stack a few shots?

Always wanted to try this myself, but...well, you know how smogged up Chicago's skies can be.

Wow, I am amazed. Wonderful. I wish I could see the stars from where I live. But the city's lights are too bright. In facht, I've never seen something like this ever.

So pretty~~~. I wish I could see that in a place without the ridiculous city lights....

Though I did see an epic shooting star that was about an inch in my view when I looked up from the ground. Saw the meteor break apart as it streaked across. :3

Again, lovely photo.

Used your 150-500mm Sigma for this?

Whereabouts was this shot at? Wherever it is, the skies there are amazingly clear.

:) I love seeing this from my city. I can drive ten minutes into the desert and admire the stars without the light pollution. Truly beautiful.
